Movie Industry Doubles Down on 3-D

Studio execs have an odd conundrum: Box-office receipts have steadily grown but the number of ticket sales have not. Thanks to the proliferation of home theaters, movies-on-demand and portable video players, moviegoers have fewer reasons to actually “go” to a movie. The studios’ solution?

Got iPhone Pwned?

Well after reading articles and dugg stories of the iPhone Pwnage Tool first being in existance, then being delayed from released, then being completely closed-out and shutdown and sold to a private company to finally being released on April 3rd, 2008. I was in complete awe and amazement. So I did what everyone who is an early adaptor and downloaded the tool, loaded it up on my MacBook Pro as quickly as I could. I ran into one issue which caused me a little delay (my home Mac was the primary sync point for my iPhone). If I were to use the tool on the iPhone from my MBP it’d erase my music/videos and this would cause me to listen to nothing on my way back home.

This is where AFPd came in handy, I created a private WiFi network, connected to the iPhone and copied over all of my music to this iTunes Library into a new playlist (which will now sync to the iPhone). Once that was done I “erase and sync”ed the iTunes with the iPhone. Now I was ready to Pwn my iPhone. I was then missing the ipsw files required by the Pwnage tool, which I was easily able to download thanks to ‘iphone.unlock.no’.

I then put my phone into recovery-mode and was able to use the iPwner tool to flash the rom (using the downloaded 1.1.4 ipsw)

Then I created a new custom 1.1.4 ipsw using the Pwnage tool & the original 1.1.4 ipsw.

Once the iPhone was pwned, I restored it using the new custom ipsw that I just created using iTunes (option + restore button, select file)

Digg Comments-throttled from spammers!
Well I guess I had to learn this the hard way, but Digg.com has an excellent built-in Anti-Spam technology which stops you from posting Comments to Digg Articles between 2-minutes time. I like it!

Not to mention it was designed with Star Wars in mind and apparently the Anti-Spam technology is using Yoda’s Intelligence Module, with the exception of subjects and objects showing up in the proper order.

How about some Wireless-usb on Apple Products?

Finally a laptop with the wireless-usb built-in, this is something that would be useful on you know what? The MacBook Air. Wireless usb totally makes sense, hopefully we’ll see these on future MacBooks and Macs in general. It’ll definitely make it easier to make them more portable! Leave the printers, scanners, and other wired devices to the wireless-usb hub which is then connected to the MacBook, MacBook Air, and the MacBook Pro wirelessly. I mean no need to carry around extra hubs/wires etc.

We’re a bit bummed that wireless USB-equipped laptops are merely trickling in versus pouring, but we reckon we’ll take what we can get. Next on the docket is the LaVie J series from NEC…

Intel sued by Univ of WI for Core 2 Duo patent infringement

“a lawsuit filed today by the University of Wisconsin claims that the processor infringes on patented technology developed by one of its professors.” This is absolutely absured!! why? Because University of Wisconsin took almost over a year and a half to come to this conclusion; Intel released Core 2 June of 2006; that it was their patent that Intel supposedly infringed. Although the technology was already present in their Intel Pentium III processors and the R&D on this chip was conducted in Isreal. What does that say? Knowingly University of Wisconsin put out this news to further affect the stock price of Intel (trying to short huh?) and in this time of recessionary period wanting some extra cash in leu of lawsuit, yeah ok good idea there.
